New Features ------------ Driver maintenance and improvements to MCI. Problems Addressed ------------------ None. Overview -------- This CDROM contains the latest driver files, Navigator files, and DirectX 5. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- WINDOWS 95 INSTALLATIONS ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Two Windows 95 Operating Systems are addressed: Windows 950 (the original release) and OSR2 (which is release 950 B). Select the SYSTEM Icon in the Control Panel to determin your version of 95. Hardware Installation --------------------- 1. Open your computer and find an open PCI slot. 2. Remove the back plate from the free slot and save the screw. 3. Place the Diamond DVD graphics board into that slot. 4. Replace the screw. 6. Use the feature connector cable to connect the Diamond DVD graphics card to your current VGA card. Note: You may have a pass-through cable which attaches to the monitor port on your current VGA card and to the "VGA IN" port on the back of the Diamond DVD graphics card. In this situation, attach the VGA monitor cable to the "VGA OUT" port on the Diamond DVD graphics card. 5. Replace the computer chassis. Software Installation --------------------- Recommended Installation Order ------------------------------ The following are recommended installation orders for Windows 95: Windows 95 (950 or 950 B) ------------------------- 1. Diamond or other Windows 95 Video Controller 2. Diamond DVD Drivers 3. Microsoft DirectX 5 (installed automatically during Navigator install) 4. Diamond DVD Navigator ------------------------------------------------------------------------- WINDOWS 95 Original Release (950) ------------------------------------------------------------------------- SECTION 1 - Updating previously installed Diamond DVD drivers on your Windows 95 (950) system: 1. Start Windows 95. 2. Right-click on My Computer and choose Properties. 3. Choose the Device Manager tab and double click on Sound, video and game controllers. 4. Double click on the Diamond DVD Device. 5. Click on the Driver tab and then click the Change Driver... button. Diamond DVD should be highlighted. 6. Click on the Have Disk... button. 7. Type the appropriate path to the Diamond DVD Windows 95 drivers (X:\WIN95 where X is your CDROM drive). ------------------------------------------------------------------------ SECTION 2 - Installing DVD driver from the New Hardware Found dialog box on your Windows 95 (950) system: 1. Windows 95 displays a dialog box indicating: "New Hardware Found - PCI Video Multimedia Device" Choose to install drivers from a disk provided by the hardware manufacturer. 2. Type the appropriate path to the Diamond DVD Windows 95 drivers (X:\WIN95 where X is your CDROM drive). ----------------------------------------------------------------------- WINDOWS 95 OSR2 (Release 950 B) ----------------------------------------------------------------------- SECTION 1 - Updating previously installed Diamond DVD drivers on your Windows 95 OSR2 (950 B) system: 1. Start Windows 95. 2. Right-click on My Computer and choose Properties. 3. Choose the Device Manager tab and double click on Sound, video and game controllers. 4. Double click on the Diamond DVD Device. 5. Click on the Driver tab and then click the Update Driver... button. 6. Click on NEXT to select the "Yes Recommended..." search. 7. After a moment the Other Locations button is displayed. Click on Other Locations, and then select Browse to view the Diamond DVD Windows 95 drivers (X:\WIN95 where X is your CDROM drive). Then click OK to select the folder, click OK again to confirm the displayed driver path, and finally click finish to install the driver. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ SECTION 2 - Installing DVD driver from the New Hardware Found dialog box on your Windows 95 OSR2 (950 B) system: 1. Windows 95 displays a dialog box indicating: "New Hardware Found - PCI Video Multimedia Device" Choose to install drivers from a disk provided by the hardware manufacturer. 2. Type the appropriate path to the Diamond DVD Windows 95 drivers (X:\WIN95 where X is your CDROM drive). ------------------------------------------------------------------------ NAVIGATOR / DirectX 5 INSTALLATION - WINDOWS 950 or 950 B SYSTEMS ------------------------------------------------------------------------ 1. Run setup from X:\Navigator (where X is your CDROM drive). 2. The system will test if DirectX 5 is installed. If not, DirectX 5 installation will begin. Be sure to select the Install or Reinstall button in DirectX setup. 3. After DirectX is installed and the system is rebooted (or if DirectX 5 is already installed) the Navigator installation will continue. 4.
