Orchid Technology Fahrenheit 64 and Fahrenheit Pro 64 Driver Release v1.22 --------------------------------------- The file you have downloaded, F64.EXE contains the complete files from the Fahrenheit Install/Driver disk v1.22. This readme file contains instructions for making a Fahrenheit driver disk, so you can install the drivers. You have already completed the first step, by unpacking the F64.EXE file and reading this. When you unpack F64.EXE you should have the following files: FAH64 001 1044164 03-27-95 1:22a INSTALL EXE 179498 03-22-95 1:22a SETUP EXE 229284 03-22-95 1:22a README 1ST 3415 08-03-95 Using your Fahrenheit Drivers ----------------------------- There are two ways to install the Fahrenheit software drivers and utilities. You can install the software to your hard drive through Windows or DOS. Both installation programs are the same; use the one most convenient for you. For brevity only the DOS installation is covered in this readme file. For instructions on the Windows installation, see your Fahrenheit manual. 1. Copy all files (listed above) to a blank high density 3.5" floppy disk. 2. Log onto your floppy drive and run the INSTALL.EXE program install the driver files to your hard drive. You should run INSTALL.EXE from DOS, not from Windows. The INSTALL.EXE program is menu driven, and fairly self explanatory. The INSTALL menu helps you install drivers for a variety of different applications. If you have questions during any part of the installation process, press the F1 key for context sensitive help, or see your Fahrenheit manual for more information. Troubleshooting --------------- If you're using QEMM or EMM386 (or a similar type of memory manager), you need to exclude the Fahrenheit's RAM and ROM memory address so your memory manager doesn't try to use that area. The syntax for EMM386 and QEMM is to add the statement X=A000-C7FF to the EMM or QEMM setup line in your CONFIG.SYS file. If you are using QEMM's "Stealth" feature (ST:M or ST:F), you also need to add the statement XST=C000 to the QEMM line in CONFIG.SYS. If you use QEMM, it may be necessary to re-run the Optimize program after adding the Fahrenheit exclusions.
