Orchid Technology GameWave 32 Driver Release v1.4 --------------------------------------- The file you have downloaded, GW32.EXE contains the complete files from the GameWave 32 driver disk v1.4. This README.1ST file contains instructions for making a floppy installation disk, so you can install the new drivers. You have already completed the first step, by unpacking the GW32.EXE file and reading this. This driver release is appropriate for the original GameWave 32 board. If you have upgraded your ROMs to the InVision ROM set, this driver is not appropriate for your board. You should use the driver set called GWINV.EXE. (If you would like to know more about the InVision ROM set, download the file INVISN.TXT from the Orchid BBS, or Orchid library on CompuServe, GO ORCHID, library 10). If you have the GameWave 32 Plus, this driver set is not appropriate for your board. You should use the driver set called GWPLUS.EXE. When you unpack GW32.EXE you should have the following files and subdirectory: disk.id 27 2-09-95 1:40a ginstall.exe 109,329 8-10-92 10:00a install.dat 21,368 2-15-95 1:40a install.hlp 10,701 2-09-95 1:40a mscdex.exe 25,361 5-31-94 6:22a readme.1st 4,902 8-03-95 gw32.001\cdd.sys 11,936 11-03-93 1:40a gw32.001\genmid.ld 39,877 3-22-94 1:40a gw32.001\gw32.exe 45,669 5-27-94 1:40a gw32.001\gw32.ini 163 10-16-93 1:40a gw32.001\imaadpcm.acm 17,936 9-02-94 12:00a gw32.001\mcicda.drv 13,824 3-10-92 3:10a gw32.001\midimap.cfg 36,856 9-24-93 1:40a gw32.001\midimap.drv 52,784 3-10-92 3:10a gw32.001\mpu401.drv 7,088 3-10-92 3:10a gw32.001\msacm.drv 22,816 11-29-94 1:40a gw32.001\msadlib.drv 22,064 3-10-92 3:10a gw32.001\msadpcm.acm 15,104 11-19-93 12:00a gw32.001\mt32.ld 46,047 3-22-94 1:40a gw32.001\orchid.wav 32,356 12-06-93 1:40a gw32.001\sndblst2.drv 14,464 3-10-92 3:10a gw32.001\swcd.sys 5,808 9-14-93 1:40a gw32.001\vadlibd.386 5,542 3-10-92 3:10a gw32.001\vsbd.386 5,650 3-10-92 3:10a Installing the New Driver ------------------------- 1. The installer program (GINSTALL.EXE) should be run from a floppy disk. If you didn't unpack GW32.EXE to a floppy disk then do so now. The packed file has a subdirectory embedded in it. In order to unpack and create the subdirectory you'll need to use the "-d" option when unpacking the files. For example: GW32 A: -d NOTE: If your floppy drive letter is not "A:" then substitute the appropriate drive letter. 2. Log onto your floppy drive and run the GINSTALL.EXE program to install the driver files to your hard drive. You should run GINSTALL.EXE from DOS, not from Windows. The GINSTALL.EXE program is menu driven, and fairly self explanatory. If you have questions during any part of the installation process, press the F1 key for context sensitive help. Once you have completed GINSTALL, the driver installation is complete. You may need to reboot your system for changes to take effect. Troubleshooting --------------- 1. The main question Orchid Technical Support receives about this driver installation is regarding proper unpacking of the !GW32.EXE file. If the utilities don't seem to be installing correctly please review step number 1 in the previous section titled "Installing the New Driver" for instructions on unpacking the !GW32.EXE file. If the subdirectory embedded in the file isn't unpacked correctly the drivers won't install properly.
