9/11/95 News Release Hewlett-Packard Bundles Incat's Easy-CD Software with New, Low-Cost CD Recorder Milpitas, Calif, - September 11, 1995 - Incat Systems, an Adaptec company, (NASDAQ:ADPT), has announced a licensing agreement with Hewlett-Packard for the bundling of Incat software with Hewlett-Packard's new SureStore CD-Writer 4020i reader/recorder system. This complete, high-quality, low-cost solution offers the power of CD-R to businesses and consumers at every level. "We are delighted that Hewlett-Packard chose Incat to be part of the package that will really make CD writing available at the consumer level," said Fabrizio Caffarelli, Incat's founder. "Their choice reinforces Incat's reputation as a producer of powerful, reliable, and easy-to-use software for CD writing." The HP SureStore CD-Writer 4020i is a 4x CD reader and 2x CD recorder which installs in a half-height bay. The software suite includes these Incat products: * Easy-CD, an extension of the Windows File Manager for easy file transfer to CD. Easy-CD appears as a menu in File Manager, writing files to CD is as simple as selecting them in the File Manager window and invoking a single command. Easy-CD allows for adding files to a disk in subsequent writes (sessions), with automatic updating and linking of data between sessions. A file recovery feature provides for retrieval of any file on disk, including versions which have been "overwritten" in later sessions. * Easy-CD Audio, developed exclusively for Hewlett-Packard, lets users prepare custom audio disks. Easy-CD Audio writes standard CD-DA disks from WAV files. These standard CD-DA disks can then be played on any home or car stereo, computer CD-ROM drive, or the SureStore CD-Writer 4020i itself. * Magic Lantern, a Photo CD viewer utility. * IMR's Alchemy Personal, which includes CD-R writing capabilities licensed from Incat, using the Easy-CD Toolkit.
