The changes, according to CEO F. GrantSaviers, "are appropriately responsive to this company's growth."The firm announced record first quarter results on June 20th of this year,including a 30 percent increase in revenues and a 77 percent increase inearnings, capping 44 straight quarters of profitability.Promotions and new hires were as follows:Paulette Altmaier promoted to VP, engineering. Altmaier, 38, was namedvice-president, engineering for Adaptec's Inter-Networking Technology(INTO) Division. She was formerly director of engineering for thatdivision. She came to Adaptec from Grid Systems/AST Research, where sheserved as director, software and communications. Prior to Grid, Altmaierwas a principal engineer at Apple Computer, working on the Newton Team andApple's Wireless Communications Architecture. Before Apple, she heldengineering positions at Ungermann-Bass, Inc., and Intel Corp. Altmaierholds a B. Tech degree in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Instituteof Technology and an MS in Computer Science from Syracuse University.Gary Law, hired as VP, marketing. Law, 40, will run marketing for Adaptec'sInter-Networking Technology (INTO) Division. He was recruited from BayNetworks, where he had served initially as director of business developmentand ultimately as director of market development. Prior to Bay Networks,Law worked at Codenoll Technology from 1988 through 1989 where he was hiredas western sales manager and later named director of OEM sales. BeforeCodenall, Law held sales and product management positions atUngermann-Bass, Envision Technology, and Hewlett-Packard's Data SystemsDivision. He holds a BSEE from the University of Texas.John Noellert promoted to VP, channel sales for the Americas. Noellert, 37,promoted from director of channel sales, has been at Adaptec for over twoyears. Prior to Adaptec, he served as VP, sales and marketing for ReplyCorporation, of San Jose. Before Reply, he was at Everex Systems, where hewas national sales manger for major resale accounts. Prior to Everex,Noellert held sales and marketing positions at Optical Devices, Inc.,ComputerLand Corporation, and Qantel Corporation.Michael Ofstedahl, promoted to VP, Strategic Accounts and Sales, Asia.Ofstedahl, 35, was promoted from director of strategic accounts and salesfor Asia, a position he has held for two years. He came to Adaptec fromVitarel Microelectronics, Inc., of San Diego, where he served as seniorvice president of sales and marketing. Before Vitarel, he was at WesternDigital Corporation of Irvine. At Western Digital, he served as regionaldirector (Central U.S.) and was later promoted to director of strategicaccount sales. Prior to Western Digital, Ofstedahl held sales managementpositions at WD Imaging (Paradise Systems), and NMB Semiconductor. He holdsa BS in marketing from San Jose State University.Ken Arola, promoted to Director of Accounting. In his five years atAdaptec, Arola, 39, has served as business unit controller, corporateplanning manager and corporate accounting controller. He came to Adaptecfrom Unipath Co., Mountain View, where he served as manager of costaccounting and financial planning. Prior to Unipath, Arola was at VarianAssociates where he held the positions of financial planning manager, costaccounting manager, and ultimately operations controller. Before Varian, heheld accounting positions at Televideo, Inc., and Cooper Laboratories.Arola holds a BA in biology from the University of the Pacific and an MBAfrom the University of Santa Clara.Danial Faizullabhoy, promoted to Director of Marketing. Faizullabhoy, 33,will direct the marketing for Adaptec's Mass Storage Electronics productgroup. He has been at Adaptec for eight years. He was hired as anapplications engineer, and was later promoted to marketing manager for harddisk controllers. Prior to Adaptec, Fiazullabhoy was at ProductionAutomation, where he worked in design engineering for three years. He holdsa BSEE from Norwich University and an MBA from the University of SantaClara.Bruce Frymire, hired as Director of Public Relations. Frymire, 48, wasrecruited from Cunningham Communication, where he had served as a director,account trouble-shooter, and principal agency writer. Prior to Cunningham,Frymire was director of marketing at PC World Magazine, account supervisorat Niehaus Public Relations and KPA Advertising, and director of marketingat InfoWorld Magazine. Before InfoWorld, he worked in marketing and salesfor McGraw-Hill, CBS, and Harper & Row, Publishers.
