Patch Name: PHSS_28362 Patch Description: s700_800 11.X OV ITO6.0X Solaris OV-PA Agent C.03.75 Creation Date: 03/01/10 Post Date: 03/01/16 Hardware Platforms - OS Releases: s700: 11.00 11.11 s800: 11.00 11.11 Products: HP OpenView IT/Operations 6.00 for Sun Solaris Filesets: OVOPC-PA-CLT.OVOPC-PA-SOL,fr=A.06.00,fa=HP-UX_B.11.00_32/64,v=HP OVOPC-PA-CLT.OVOPC-PA-SOL,fr=A.06.00,fa=HP-UX_B.11.11_32/64,v=HP Automatic Reboot?: No Status: General Release Critical: No Category Tags: defect_repair general_release Path Name: /hp-ux_patches/s700_800/11.X/PHSS_28362 Symptoms: PHSS_28362: - H554002103 Export summarization of multiple instance data is now summarized correctly by the export function of extract when a shift is specified and the end of the shift occurs before the end of the summarization interval. - H554002220 The OVPA utility RESIZE command no longer empties LOGGLOB when: - Resizing LOGAPPL to a very small value and then resizing LOGGLOB results in an empty LOGGLOB (with PARM file setting SIZE=0.0) - Resizing LOGGLOB to a very small value and then resizing LOGAPPL results in an empty LOGGLOB (with PARM file setting SIZE=0.0) - H554002227 The PROC_RUN_TIME metric, and the metrics that are derived from it (PROC_CPU_TOTAL_TIME_CUM, PROC_DISK_BLOCK_IO_SUM, PROC_IO_BYTE_CUM), no longer decrease after a period of 23 days. - H554002281 OVPA has been enhanced to select interesting processes based on virtual memory allocation. The parm file is used to set the process memory threshold, in megabyte units. If set, the memory threshold is compared with the value of the PROC_MEM_VIRT metric. Each process that exceeds the memory threshold will be logged, similarly to the existing disk and CPU process logging thresholds. When a logged process has exceeded the memory threshold, the PROC_INTEREST metric will include "M". An example of the interesting process threshold definition line in a parm file could look like: threshold memory=20 to log only processes in a given interval that have the value of PROC_MEM_VIRT greater than 20MB (20480 Kilobytes: note that the logged values for this metric is in KB units). The memory threshold definition, in units of megabytes, is accurate to the nearest 100KB. Memory threshold settings are logged into the CONFIGURATION record like other interesting process threshold values through the GBL_THRESHOLD_PROCMEM metric. - H554002284 The utility -xp and utility -xc no longer report the parm or the alarmdef file syntax error if a directory is specified instead of appropriate file. - H554002345 On active systems where the I/O throughput is high, the following metrics will report correct values when the value exceeds a gigabyte (over 1 million kilobytes): GBL_DISK_PHYS_BYTE GBL_DISK_PHYS_READ_BYTE GBL_DISK_PHYS_WRITE_BYTE Now that these metrics are correct, the following metrics derived from them will also be correct: GBL_DISK_PHYS_BYTE_RATE GBL_DISK_PHYS_READ_BYTE_RATE GBL_DISK_PHYS_WRITE_BYTE_RATE - H554002351 The utility -xr was improved so that now correct values of MB per day are determined for the resize operation. The logfiles are resized to allow for the exact number of days as specified with the days= option. - H554002369 When you perform extract/export SHOW in guided mode, messages displayed for NETIF and Configuration data are now correct: NETIF .....BOTH detail & summary records will be processed Configuration ...DETAIL......... records will be processed - H554002386 The initial and all of the subsequent repeti- tions of alarm statements are now triggered correctly as configured in the alarmdef file. - H554002389 Previously, the utility scan program did not find filesystem names in old HP-UX, Sun Solaris, and IBM AIX log files that already included filesystem records. The problem has been corrected in this release. - R555012311 PROC_IO_BYTE_CUM has been corrected to cope with large values (GBs) of IO. It now has a limit of 2048 GB, when this limit is exceeded it correctly reports 'o/f' for overflow. - R555013809 A problem where an incorrect value could be reported for PROC_CPU_TOTAL_TIME_CUM has been corrected. - R555014557 OVPA would sometimes present incorrect values for the process metrics PROC_IO_BYTE_CUM, PROC_DISK_PHYS_IO_CUM and PROC_DISK_LOGL_IO_CUM. This problem has been corrected. - R555015007 Previously, bad network metric values had been observed on busy Omniback servers, and the bad values were possible on any system with very high network throughput rates on the order of thousands of packets per second. The problem has been corrected in this release. - R555015031 A problem was fixed that could cause intermittent scope cores during execution of a "mwa stop" command. - R555016072 In OVO, the OV Performance Agent templates are now updated automatically when upgrading from version A.06.00 to A.07.10. - R555016076 The Performance integration configuration and templates are now uploaded correctly to OVO when running the 'opcconfig' script in a localized environment. - 8606183706 The GBL_NET_PACKET_RATE metric has been modified and now shows only the actual network activity without any loopback traffic. - 8606247625 Disk names in mirrored environments are now correctly converted to a descriptive (cXtYdZ) format. - 8606261541 The group ID for the /etc /etc/init.d and /etc/rc2.d directories has been corrected and is now "sys". - 8606261556 The problem, when the scopeux data collector failed to start upon the LVOL data initialization has been corrected. - 8606283517 The scopeux data collector no longer aborts upon adding a new disk to the system (hot-swapping). PHSS_25624: - H554001909 A problem that caused extract to create unreadable log files when extracting global summary records from log files containing more than 32 disk devices has been fixed. - 8606165656 The GBL_ACTIVE_PROC and GBL_ALIVE_PROC metrics have been fixed, so that now correct values are reported. - H554001710 ttd does not core dump anymore when it receives an empty string from arm_init call instead of an application name. Although the name of application in such cases will be "unknown", you have to correct your arm_init call and specify the name of application to avoid further problems. - R555010524 scope has been modified to apply additional checks to make sure that new processes ("N") and killed processes ("K") events are paired up as expected. This additional checking is activated by the threshold settings of the parm file. Make sure that shortlived option is specified, and nonew and nokilled options are not. - 8606211506 The GBL_RUN_QUEUE metric has been fixed, so that now accurate values are reported. - H554001863 The GBL_BLOCKED_IO_QUEUE metric has been fixed, so that now correct values are reported. - R555007909 New Logical Volume metrics LV_READ_BYTE_RATE and LV_WRITE_BYTE_RATE have been added. - 8606166180 The class LABEL length is now increased to up to 48 characters. - H554001851 scopeux no longer core dumps in disk configuration sequence on Sun Solaris systems with specific hardware setup. This hardware setup includes missing symbolic links in the /dev/dsk pointing to the actual disk device special files and the way hardware path for instances of physical disk devices is defined. - H554001599 The maximum extracted log files size has been increased from 64 megabytes to 3584 megabytes. When creating a new log file the new default blocksize is used (before 1 kilobyte, now 56 kilobytes). Please note that older versions of MeasureWare Agent will not be able to read extracted log files with the new blocksize. - H554001596 Fixed extract, so that "extract -xt w-l -gapdzcnt" now produces a valid log file. - H554001721 The problem that caused extract to intermittently core when processing log files greater than 32 disk devices and/or greater than 4 LAN devices has been fixed. - 8606178531 The report file title can now have up to 246 characters. - H554001758 Application names with trailing whitespace characters in the parm file no longer result in 'visually duplicate' application names in logindx for MeasureWare Agent. - R555010157 The installation procedure has been updated, so that now the installation checks HP OpenView Operations communication protocol (NCS or DCE) and installs MeasureWare Agent accordingly. - R555008449 The TT_USER_MEASUREMENT_AVG metric is now intervalized and is no longer averaged over the life of the transaction. - 8606196678 MeasureWare Agent no longer displays an unneeded error message, while running in NCS communication mode, after issuing the command agsysdb -l: "ERROR: Could not compose string binding for host ncadg_ip_tcp. rpc_string_binding_compose failed 0xffffffff. (AG1-63)" MeasureWare Agent does not use TCP ports in NCS communication mode, but it does in DCE communication mode. The message was removed for NCS communication mode. - H554001930 The PROC_MEM_RES and PROC_MEM_VIRT memory metric no longer shows discrepancy for 64-bit processes on 64-bit OS (Sun Solaris 7 and 8). - H554001864 alarmgen no longer sends false alarms if not all processes are engaged within application. - R555010179 A new option, [-delpv], was added to the "agsysdb" command to allow you to manually remove a PerfView system from the agdb file without using the connected PerfView software. - 8606179221 MeasureWare Agent now supports installation on symbolic links. - R555010179 A new option, [-delpv], was added to the "agsysdb" command to allow you to manually remove a PerfView system from the agdb file without using the connected PerfView software. - 8606179221 MeasureWare Agent now supports installation on symbolic links. - R555010179 A new option, [-delpv], was added to the "agsysdb" command to allow you to manually remove a PerfView system from the agdb file without using the connected PerfView software. - 8606179221 MeasureWare Agent now supports installation on symbolic links.
