	Using filesystem swap with JFS 3.3 corrupts the filesystem.
	This may cause the system to hang or panic.  There is no
	common stack trace and panic string for reference, but the
	filesystem which is used for swap may be corrupted and
	unrecoverable.

Defect Description:
	PHKL_23940:

	JFS 3.3 uses a new flag to determine whether a vnode is used
	for swap files.  If this flag is not set correctly, swap
	files are written to wrong locations on the disk causing
	filesystem corruption.  Later, when swapped pages are paged
	in, the data may be corrupt which may lead to unpredictable
	results like system hangs or panics.

	Resolution:
	Make sure that the flag which determines whether a vnode is
	a swap file or not is set correctly on swap file vnodes.

	1. Back up your system before installing a patch.

	2. Login as root.

	3. Copy the patch to the /tmp directory.

	4. Move to the /tmp directory and unshar the patch:

		cd /tmp
		sh PHKL_23940

	5. Run swinstall to install the patch:

		swinstall -x autoreboot=true -x patch_match_target=true \
			  -s /tmp/PHKL_23940.depot

	By default swinstall will archive the original software in 
	/var/adm/sw/save/PHKL_23940.  If you do not wish to retain a
	copy of the original software, include the patch_save_files
	option in the swinstall command above:

		-x patch_save_files=false

	WARNING: If patch_save_files is false when a patch is installed,
		 the patch cannot be deinstalled.  Please be careful
		 when using this feature.
