Defect Description: PHCO_29040: ( SR:8606319140 CR:JAGae81630 ) On Network Filesystem (NFS) with quota restriction enabled, cat(1) doesn't report error if quota is exceeded. Steps to reproduce the problem: 1) Mount NFS with quota restriction enabled for a user. 2) Using cat(1) try writing data more than the available quota on the NFS. 3) cat(1) doesn't write any data to the file specified & no error message is displayed on stderr and exit status not changed. $ cd /qckeck (qcheck is mount point for quota enabled NFS). $ cat /file1 > tfile (write contents of 'file1' to 'tfile' using cat(1)). $ echo $? 0 $ ls -l tfile -rw-rw-rw- 1 vts ssgrp 0 Apr 10 02:26 tfile If the quota is exceeded, cat(1) doesn't write to the file. Moreover, no error message is displayed on stderr & the exit status is also not change. Resolution: The necessary file-descriptor is closed & a check added. If the check fails, exit status is changed & error message is written on stderr.
