Only one is allowed at a time.' [ OK ] ------------------------------------------------ If [OK] is pressed, the Set Default Domain window is closed. The Set Default Domain window should not be closed even though it is an error. JAGad91701) On entering SAM -> Disks and File Systems -> File Systems -> Actions -> Add Remote File System -> Using the NFS Automounter, enter the required information in the 'Add Automounted Remote File System' screen and choose OK. In the 'File Systems' screen, select a NFS file system and choose Actions -> Remove menu item. The following error message is displayed. ------------------------------------------------ parse_nsswitch: Couldn't open file, '/etc/nsswitch.conf' parse_nsswitch: Couldn't find server, 'automount'. ------------------------------------------------ JAGae26582) In SAM -> Networking and Communications -> Time -> NTP Broadcasting subarea, when a user selects the 'Modify' action item, SAM displays the following error message: ------------------------------------------------ A sam INTERNAL ERROR has occurred! UILIB ERROR: ui_sel_item_name () returned UILIB_FIELD_NOT_FOUND Arguments were: field_name: 'auth_key_nums' ------------------------------------------------ JAGae29286) On entering SAM -> Networking and Communications -> Network Interface Cards subarea, many files remain in the /var/tmp file after SAM networking functions are run. JAGae37625) On entering SAM -> Networking and Communications -> NIS+ -> NIS+ Tables. Using Actions -> Change Domains, change the domain from home domain to sub domain and add a user with add entry within Modify Password Table entry. After entering the required information, SAM displays a message to modify the credentials table if a user requires full access privileges. Select a user to add credentials for the home domain and choose Apply. The following error message is displayed. ------------------------------------------------ Non-root users have DES credentials only in their home domain. The cred table you are modifying is from sub.temp.tmp.com and this user's home domain is temp.tmp.com. ------------------------------------------------ JAGae43074) On entering SAM -> Accounts for Users and Groups -> NIS+ Users, the "Reset User's Password" menu item under the Actions menu is not available in the "NIS+ Users" subarea when a system is in a combined NIS+ and trusted configuration. JAGae44447) On entering SAM -> Networking and Communications -> NIS+ -> NIS+ Tables subarea, select the passwd/trusted table, and select an entry. Choose the 'Modify' menu item from the 'Actions' menu. SAM displays a screen titled 'Modify passwd/ trusted table entry'. On selecting 'passwd table shadow column' on this screen, SAM displays incorrect password aging fields. Also, SAM incorrectly updates passwd format policy and time of the day fields in the trusted table. JAGae44448) On entering SAM ->Networking and Communications -> NIS+ -> NIS+ Tables subarea, select the trusted table and then select an entry. Choose the Modify menu item from the Actions menu. SAM displays a screen titled 'Modify trusted table entry'. On this screen, if a user selects 'View local System default', a bus error is displayed. JAGae50036) When a local printer with a non-standard device file is configured using SAM, printers are displayed in SAM as Network instead of Local. JAGae52086) SAM stops processing user entries once it encounters an invalid entry in the nis or nisplus password table. JAGae52920) In SAM->Networking and Communications -> DNS -> Local Name Server subarea, when a user modifies the DNS entries, SAM exits with the following error message: ------------------------------------------------ UNEXPECTED EXIT: process LANG=C LC_ALL=C /usr/sam/lbin/samx 4733 -s primary_DNS_server /usr/sam/lib//dns.ui exited with a non-zero exit status. sh: 5175. Bus error (coredump). ------------------------------------------------ JAGae55289) On entering SAM -> Performance Monitors -> System Properties subarea, the page size is displayed as zero in the Memory and Dynamic tabs. JAGae55296) SAM does not display cron(1m) jobs starting with a '#' (comment character). SAM incorrectly displays cron(1m) jobs if the description field contains a '#' character. JAGae59086) SAM does not restore the BSD printer attributes on restoring the print spooler configuration. JAGae64820) A system has more than 500 users and more than 500 groups where the users' and groups' names are hyphenated. e.g. group-1 and user-1. In such a system, when the restricted SAM builder is invoked, a text-edit box (Select a Group) is displayed in the Load Privileges window. Entering the hyphenated name of a group in the Select a Group text-edit box shows the following error- ------------------------------------------------ The information entered in the Select a Group: field is not valid. After exiting this message, press Help on Context (F1) for more information about the field's requirements. ------------------------------------------------ JAGae64822) For a restricted SAM user belonging to a group with restricted privileges and who do not have access to Functional Areas requiring ioparser.sh output, the ioparser.sh is executed even during the login session of the restricted SAM user. PHCO_27376: JAGab31984) In SAM -> performance Monitors -> System Properties subarea, SAM online help for virtual memory makes reference to "pseudo-swap", which is incorrect. JAGae23125) SAM performs ioscan when it is launched by a user having restricted access to "Users and Groups" and "Auditing and Security" subareas. JAGae28189) In SAM ->Performance Monitors -> System Properties subarea,SAM is unable to detect the CPU type for McKinley processor family systems,rx2600 and zx2000. JAGae36972) When a system administrator modifies or deletes a user, SAM does not update the ownership of symbolic links. The symbolic link retains the previous uid and may cause confusion in the future. JAGae38690) On entering SAM -> Networking and Communications -> Network interface cards subarea, the following error message is displayed: ------------------------------------------- A SAM internal error has occurred. The error handler has gotten the error code 0 of type NOTE with the associated strings: bufcache_max_pct ------------------------------------------- JAGae41071) In SAM -> Accounts for Users and Groups -> NIS+ Users subarea, on choosing Add menu item from the Actions menu, SAM fails to create the home directory for a new NIS+ user when the Create Home Directory option is checked in Add a User Account window. JAGae42959) SAM to support the configuration of the New Gigabit Ethernet Card (IETHER). JAGae47367) In a scenario where there are more than 500 users in restricted SAM, when a user specifies a hyphenated user name in the "Select a User" text field (Load Privileges window), the following error message is displayed: ---------------------------------------------- The information entered in the Select a User: field is not valid. After exiting this message, press Help on Context (F1) for more information about the field's requirements. ---------------------------------------------- JAGae51077) When a third party tool, namely ISEE Platform, calls the SAM binary, /usr/sam/lbin/getkinfo, using the commands- /opt/hpservices/RemoteSupport/bin/RunMap -n MapContent. GeneralSystemInfo -a AdrX -pd PDdrX or /opt/hpservices/RemoteSupport/bin/RunMap -n MapContent.ComprehensiveSystemInfo -l -a AdrX -pd PDdrX, the logfile from the application returns the following error message to the logfile of the ISEE Platform. -------------------------------------------- THIS SCRIPT IS BEING RUN WITH USER ID (id -u) = 0 EXECUTING /usr/sam/lbin/getkinfo -b -o /var/opt/hpservices/tmp/872/getkinfo_b_o. sh.stdout.022633115707 WARNING: COMMAND /usr/sam/lbin/getkinfo -b -o /var/opt/hpservices/tmp/872/getkin fo_b_o.sh.stdout. 022633115707 RETURNED A NON-ZERO RETURNCODE: 139. CHECK THE STDERR SECTION OF THIS COMMANDS XML OUTPUT FOR FURTHER DETAILS. --------------------------------------------- JAGae52602) SAM has to recognize the following new hardware devices: HLDS GDR-8161B ATAPI DVD-ROM/CD-ROM Reader (Product#:A8068A) LITE-ON LTR-48126S ATAPI CD-RW DRIVE (Product #:A7853A) TEAC DW224E-B ATAPI DVD-ROM/CD-RW COMBO (slim) (Product #:A8070A) 10/100BT PCI Single Port card (Product #:A6974A) Fibre Channel Disk Array VA7110 (Product #:A6189B) CD-RW Drive (Product #:A7853A) HP Ultrium 460 External Drive (Product #:Q1509A) HP Storageworks SDLT 160/320 GB Tape Drive (Product #: 257319-B21) Defect Description: PHCO_28124: JAGad54903) SAM was doing a return after the error message which is not needed. SAM should continue to function. Resolution: SAM code has been modified to continue to function even after the error message is displayed to the user. JAGad91701) In the absence of the file /etc/nsswitch.conf, SAM displays the error message on to the screen instead of silently logging the message. Resolution: If SAM finds that the file /etc/nsswitch.conf is not present, then SAM logs this message in the log file but does not display it on to the screen. JAGae26582) SAM calls the ObAM API 'ui_sel_item_name' to display the authentication key for the selected client broadcast network. This API is called with incorrect field name. Resolution: SAM code has been modified to call the function with the correct field name. JAGae29286) To store internal information, SAM creates temporary files in the /var/tmp directory. SAM fails to remove these files later and thereby fills up the directory with temporary generated files. Resolution: SAM code has been modified to check whether the interface is configured and the temporary file is deleted. JAGae37625) SAM is not carrying out proper validations for DES credentials and thereby does not allow a user to add DES credentials for NIS. Resolution: SAM code has been modified to validate the domain names and add DES credentials for a user. JAGae43074) The "Reset User's Password" menu item under the Actions menu is not available in the "NIS+ Users" subarea when a system is in a combined NIS+ and trusted configuration. Resolution: SAM code has been modified to include the "Reset Password" option in the "NIS+ Users" subarea when a system is in a combined NIS+ and trusted configuration. JAGae44447) SAM incorrectly assumes the order of password aging fields in the passwd table and hence displays incorrect values on the screen. Also, SAM does not read the 'passwd table shadow column' field in the trusted table and as a result default values are always displayed. Resolution: SAM code has been modified to parse the passwd aging fields in the correct order. Also, SAM reads and writes the 'passwd format policies' and 'Login time of the day' fields as per the order in the trusted table. JAGae44448) SAM does not populate system default fields for trusted mode systems. As a result when SAM tries to read the fields, a 'Bus error' is displayed. Resolution: SAM code has been modified to update the system default fields for the trusted mode systems. JAGae50036) After installing PHCO_23876 or PHCO_25902, printers configured with user specified devices are displayed in SAM as Network instead of Local. Due to a change in the lpmgr script, the following two problems arose: 1. Any local or network printer with a non-standard device file is considered as a network printer. 2. Any local or network printer with a device file other than /dev/null is considered as a local printer. Resolution: The lpmgr script in SAM has been modified to display the printers configured with non-standard device files as Local. JAGae52086) SAM stops processing nis/nisplus entries once it encounters an invalid entry. Resolution: SAM code has been modified to skip the invalid entry and continue processing the rest of the password table/map. JAGae52920) SAM is trying to access the memory where the DNS entries are supposed to be stored. SAM should have allocated sufficient memory to store all details. Since the memory allocated is not sufficient, SAM dumps core when it tries to access memory illegally. Resolution: Now, SAM gets sufficient memory to hold all the values of DNS entries. JAGae55289) SAM displays the page size as zero in the System Properties (Memory and Dynamic tabs) subarea. Resolution: SAM now displays the correct page size in the System Properties subarea. JAGae55296) On entering SAM -> Process Management ->Scheduled Cron Jobs subarea, add a new cron(1m) job staring with a '#' character. SAM SAM creates the job but does not does not display the information properly in the Scheduled Cron Jobs screen. Also, SAM does not parse the information properly if the job contains a '#' character. Resolution: The cron_read script in SAM has been modified to interpret the command and description properly. SAM now correctly displays cron(1m) jobs that start with a '#' character. SAM now correctly cron(1m) jobs even if the description contains a '#' character. JAGae59086) SAM uses lpstat command to find the printer attributes during the restore operation. The lpstat command does not report the BSD attributes for a printer. Thereby, SAM is unable to restore the BSD attributes. Resolution: Now, SAM stores the /var/spool/lp/pstatus file during the save operation and uses it during the restore operation to find whether the printer is configured as a BSD printer. Then, SAM appropriately restores the printer attributes. JAGae64820) The validation mechanism in the text field of Load Privileges window in restricted SAM is not accepting hyphen (-) as a valid character. Resolution: Restricted SAM code has been modified to accept hyphen (-) as a valid character in the text field when specifying a user or group name in the Restricted SAM -> Load Privileges window. JAGae64822) SAM is executing ioparser.sh without checking whether the user needs the output of the ioparser.sh, during the login session of the restricted SAM user. Resolution: Before executing ioparser.sh, SAM checks the control file of the restricted SAM user to determine whether the ioparser.sh output is required. PHCO_27376: JAGab31984) The following text is available in SAM online help. ---------------------------------------- Virtual Memory: Amount of virtual memory (also called pseudo-swap) in the system (as defined by pstat (see pstat(2)): Active: Virtual memory currently in use. Total: Total virtual memory in the system. ----------------------------------------- The displayed data is that of virtual memory data, and is not specific to "pseudo-swap" as it is stated. The help screen is giving incorrect statement. The displayed data is the same regardless of "pseudo-swap" being enabled or disabled. Resolution: SAM online help has been modified to display the correct information about virtual memory. JAGae23125) SAM should perform ioscan if the restricted user has access to functional areas other than "Account for Users and Groups" and "Auditing and Security". Resolution: Now,SAM performs ioscan only if the restricted user has access to functional areas other than "Account for Users and Groups" and "Auditing and Security". JAGae28189) The code for recognizing CPU version on McKinley processor family is not implemented in SAM. Resolution: SAM code has been modified to recognize the McKinley processor family. JAGae36972) Since the -h option is not passed to the system command 'chown', the ownership of symbolic links is not getting changed along with other files, but the files pointed by symbolic links are getting modified. Resolution: 'chown' command is now supplied with the option -h. JAGae38690) The internal error is occuring as SAM configuration database has not been updated for the new tunable paramater bufcache_max_pct. Resolution: SAM configuration database has been updated with the information for the new tunable bufcache_max_pct. JAGae41071) When SAM creates a home directory for a new NIS+ user, SAM uses the libc routines to get details (user id, group id and home directory) about the NIS+ user. In cases where the master server is busy, libc routines retrieve the user information from the replica server. If the NIS+ tables are not updated on the replica server, then the specified user information would not be available and the libc routines fail to provide the same. Thereby, SAM fails to create the new home directory. Resolution: SAM code has been modified to extract user information(user ID, group ID and home directory) from the user-entered information in the task dialog box without contacting the NIS+ server. JAGae42959) SAM to support the configuration of the New Gigabit Ethernet Card (IETHER). Resolution: Changes have been made to the SAM code to support the IETHER card. JAGae47367) The validation mechanism for "Select a User" text field (Load Privileges window) in restricted SAM is not accepting hyphen (-) as a valid character. Resolution: Restricted SAM code has been modified to accept hyphen (-) as a valid character in the "Select a User" text field when specifying a user name in the Restricted SAM -> Load Privileges window. JAGae51077) ISEE Platform dynamically generates a script to invoke the getkinfo. The getkinfo in turn calls the samlog function inside SAM code where arrays with huge buffer sizes are defined. This causes illegal memory to be referenced and generates the signal SIGSEGV from the getkinfo. Resolution: The array definitions inside the samlog function is modified to dynamic memory allocations to prevent illegal memory referencing. JAGae52602) SAM database has to be updated to include the new device data. Resolution: Entries for the new devices have been added to the SAM database. Enhancement: No (superseded patches contained enhancements) PHCO_23736: This patch delivers new functionality for 1. Supporting the configuration of new Gigabit Ethernet Card (IETHER).
