Patch Name: PHCO_21913 Patch Description: s700_800 11.00 vxlicense(1M) JFS 3.3 cumulative patch Creation Date: 00/06/28 Post Date: 00/08/16 Hardware Platforms - OS Releases: s700: 11.00 s800: 11.00 Products: HP JFS 3.3 Filesets: JFS.JFS-BASE-KRN,fr=3.3,fa=HP-UX_B.11.00_32/64,v=HP Automatic Reboot?: No Status: General Release Critical: No Category Tags: defect_repair general_release Path Name: /hp-ux_patches/s700_800/11.X/PHCO_21913 Symptoms: PHCO_21913: The OnLine JFS3.3 license fails to enable the online functionality. This occurs only on a 11.00 system with OnLine JFS33 installed. The command sequence: "vxlicense -c, input valid license key, vxenablef -a" will fail to enable the OnLine feature. Neither the vxlicense or the vxenablef command displays any warning or error messages. A subsequent attempt to use an OnLine feature will fail displaying the message "Not licensed for feature". This particular licensing failure only occurs on systems whose machine identification number (uname -i) is less than 8 digits. Defect Description: PHCO_21913: The failure to enable licensing is due to the licensing code requirement that the machine identification number is 8 or more digits. The machine identification number is the output of "uname -i". Resolution: The requirement of a minimum of a 8 digit machine identification number has been removed from the code.
