NFS hangs between IBM RS6000 and HP workstation with J2802A inside. 3. ATM address selector byte not set to "00" This problem was found during IOP tests in Berlin, while testing in front of a CISCO switch. The CISCO switch wanted to know exactly the selector byte of the HP ATM card. The display of command "atmarp -z atm0" gave "0x.......00", but the selector was arbitrary set in fact to other values (like "0c", "0a") .... you could see the real value of the selector in the log file (nettl.LOG00) when all levels of logs were set. The consequence of this problem was that it was not possible to establish a call over the CISCO switch. 4. Some "events log" (like UNI down) are no more logged. This problem was found while testing a pre-version of this patch (build 2.2.1.19). When deconnec- ting the fiber from the workstation, the message "UNI Down" was no more displayed in the logs. PHNE_6091: Here are the new fixes included in the patch - SR 4701302992: IOP problem between HP EISA ATM software and BayNetworks switch (Lattiscell). SUBMITTER TEXT: This problem only appears with HP EISA ATM Software release 2.x which supports UNI 3.0 signalling. ILMI is working well with the Lattiscell Switch, but then the SVC between the ATM ARP Client (which is an HP workstation) and its ARP Server (which is also an HP workstation) never opens : the ARP tables on each workstation stays empty. - SR 4701303008: System 9000/755 with ATM rev 2.2.1.13 panics. SUBMITTER TEXT: There are 15 systems with interface J2802B heavily used as NFS clients of an IBM RS6000. Sometimes 2 systems panic or hang (1 time a week). They should be independant. PHNE_7971: 1. 1653172460 Problem due to use of VCI different from 0 by CISCO Switch. 2. Memory leak problem 3. Forgot to force the selector to "00" 4. Not enough data was reserved for capturing events. PHNE_6091: - 4701302992 By turning on the traces on the ARP Server, we see that the SETUP message arriving from the Lattiscell Switch, contains a "Calling party number IE" corrupted (21 bytes instead of 20 bytes). In fact, there were two problems : the first one deals with the decoding of octet 5a (the screening indicator) which is an optional byte in the Calling Party Number IE and that is badly decoded by the tracing tool (nettl), AND the second one is that there was a bug with the Forward and Backward Peak Cell Rates of the SETUP message. - 4701303008 There were two problems : The first problem was causing a machine to crash when receiving PDU lengths of 16380. The second problem was caused by the firmware : it was writing data to "bogus" addresses in shared memory and this could cause a HANG or a PANIC. - 1653118778 The problem appears between an HP 9000 S735 with an HP ATM EISA board and an IBM RS6000 configured with a PVC over ATM between each other. When the PVC goes up or after 15 minutes max, the HP system panics. The problem is that the HP ATM driver didn't know how to manage an InARP-Request with the target and source "length of ATM number" set to 0.
