It is a minor patch and need only be installed if you are experiencing these problems. Could not restore saved settings in the filemanager vuefile Also retained are the following defect fixes from previous patches. Vuewm(mwm) - The window manager will lock up if it is monitoring a remote mailbox across a hard NFS link and the link goes down. Vuegreet - The login screen cursor blink rate was not modifiable by changing the "Vuelogin*blinkRate" resource. PHSS_2233 93/04/01 Vuewm(mwm) - Feedback window was sometimes obscured. - PositionIsFrame is ignored when window is programatically moved. Vuegreet - Input focus was sometimes lost after the [Options] menu was displayed. PHSS_1495 93/02/01 Vuewm(mwm) - could crash when occupying/moving icons. - Caps Lock did not have an effect when f.action invoked action. - No outline when moving window with interactive placement & no background - Mwm f.raise_lower on Button 1 with xload/xclock didn't work correctly - iconbox appears blank or very short and wide. Vuefile - creates empty files when copying files across an nfs mount as root. - hangs when deleting a FIFO. - would not create files with permissions greater than 644 - Trashcan Widget breaks when full. Cannot edit contents - appeared to ignore the users umask - appeared to ignore the users umask Vuepad - large file is created in /tmp when adjusting text - cannot read someone else's files, even with group read permissions. - Save As... dialog may be displayed very large. - cursor moved back one location after cut operation - core dumps after searching near end of file Vuegreet - enforces passwd aging when on trusted systems (secure passwd file). - problems when attempting to use XDMCP from another HP-UX workstation to manage an X session. Vuelogin - cooperates with /etc/shutdown better - corrects potential security hole - correctly handles timezones with "-" characters (ex. JST-9) - password aging window correctly handles multi-byte languages - ITE is reset correctly when NO WINDOWS mode is entered Vuesession - would hang parsing illegal multibyte characters This patch is cumulative. Note: Please back up your system before you patch. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- After getting the patch onto your machine, unshar the patch (sh PHSS_4515). To install this patch do the following: 1) Run /etc/update (Note: you must be logged in as root to update a system). 2) Once in the update "Main Menu" move the highlighted line to "Change Source or Destination ->" and press "Return" or "Select Item". 3) Make sure the highlighted item in the "Change Source or Destination" window is "From Tape Device to Local System ...", then press "Return" or "Select Item". 4) You should now be in the "From Tape Device to Local System" window. Change the "Source: /dev/rmt/0m" to "Source: /tmp/PHSS_4515.updt" (this assumes that you are in the /tmp directory where PHSS_4515.updt has been placed). Note: You must enter the complete path name. 5) Press "Done". 6) From here on follow the standard directions for update. The customized script that update runs will move the original software to /system/PHSS_4515/orig. HP recommends keeping this software there in order to recover from any potential problems. It is also recommended that you move the PHSS_4515.text file to /system/PHSS_4515 to be retained for future reference. If you wish to put this patch on a magnetic tape and update from the tape drive, dd a copy of the patch to the tape drive.
