Patch Name: PHKL_1163 Patch Description: Writing to text in xdb can crash system. This patch fixes a problem where using xdb to write to the text region of a process can cause the system to crash with "Kernel DMEM protection fault". This patch will also keep gdb from crashing HP-UX, although it will prevent gdb from suceeding at what it was trying to write so gdb may need some more work. It needs to do a PT_WRTEXT or PT_WIUSER to set breakpoints instead of a PT_WDUSER. This is the best thing to do anyways, as HP-UX makes sure the text if private and other nice things if PT_WRTEXT or PT_WIUSER is used. The file fixed was sys.800/sys_proc.o Path Name: /hp-ux_patches/s700/8.X/PHKL_1163 Effective Date: 920624 Patch Files: /system/PHKL_1163/new/conf/sys_proc.o SR/APR#: None "what" string/timestamp: sys_proc.o: PATCH_8.07: sys_proc.o 1.45.61.3 92/06/23 PHKL_1163 "sum" output: 36172 20 sys_proc.o Dependencies: None.
