        PHNE_7372:
        Fixed some possible memory issues with rpc.statd.  Also,
        rpc.statd may not take a SIGUSR2 to toggle the logging.

        NFS locks can hang.

Defect Description:
        PHNE_7372:
        Fixed some possible memory issues with rpc.statd.  Also,
        rpc.statd may now take a SIGUSR2 to toggle the logging.

        PHNE_3453:

        Fix multiple rpc.statd defects that caused NFS locks to
        hang.

        This patch fixes the following defects in rpc.statd:
         * rpc.statd core dumped or exited unexpectedly.
         * rpc.statd lost data in monitor queue resulting in
           inadequate recovery.
         * Duplicate entries in /etc/sm/* files by rpc.statd
           caused lock delay.

        1. Back up your system before installing a patch.

        2. Copy the patch to your /tmp directory and unshar it:

                cd /tmp
                cp patch_source/PHNE_7372 .
                sh PHNE_7372

        3. Become root and run update:

                /etc/update [-r [kernel_gen_file]] -s \
                        /tmp/PHNE_7372.updt PHNE_7372

        Update moves the original software to
        /system/PHNE_7372/orig.  Keep this file to recover from any
        potential problems.  You should move the .text file to
        /system/PHNE_7372 for future reference.

        To put this patch on a magnetic tape and update from the
        tape drive, use dd:

                dd if=PHNE_7372.updt of=/dev/rmt/0m bs=2048

Special Installation Instructions:  
        Note : rpc.statd should not be running on the system when
               the patch is installed.  The update process will
               detect this and the installation will be aborted.
               Options are to run update once more or re-invoke the
               customize script ("/system/PHNE_7372/customize
               HP-PA") when this has been rectified.  Ensure no
               users are using rpc.statd before you kill the
               process.
